Elizabeth DePrince Smith, CPNP

is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner (CPNP) who worked from coast-to-coast before rooting down to serve her community in Laramie, Wyoming.  While pursuing a BS in Human Biology at San Francisco State University, she discovered her love of medicine as a volunteer at The Women’s Clinic in San Francisco. After careful consideration of the best program to meet her educational and professional goals, Elizabeth graduated from Yale University’s School of Nursing in 2006 with her MSN and earned her CPNP from the Pediatric Nursing Certificate Board that same year.  Elizabeth joined Centre Pediatric Associates, PC in Brookline, MA fall of 2006 and worked there as a CPNP alongside other CPNPs and MDs until 2010.  Upon returning to Laramie, WY in 2011, Elizabeth got an in-depth view of regional pediatric healthcare needs when she worked for the Wyoming Department of Health as their Women and Infant Health Coordinator. She joined Laramie Physicians for Women and Children part-time in 2012, and acknowledged clinical practice is where her heart lies when she joined the practice full-time in 2013.  Elizabeth, and her colleague Paula Vasek, opened the doors to Meadowlark Pediatrics on July 6th, 2021. Since then, Elizabeth has worked to provide a medical home for children newborn to college age and their parents while she has expanded her care and expertise to help fill the mental health needs in her community by caring for children with ADHD, anxiety and depression and coordinating care with local counselors and therapists.  Living and working at 7200 feet above sea level has created a unique opportunity to become adept in treating and helping infants with newborn hypoxemia as well as providing care for children with asthma.

Years caring for patients

Elizabeth also has a passion for bringing cutting-edge, evidence-based practice to her community, including as an adjunct professor for the University of Wyoming’s School of Nursing DNP program and precepting students from UW and other surrounding universities.  Part of Elizabeth and Paula’s reasons to start Meadowlark Pediatrics is to bridge science and clinical practice in southeastern Wyoming offering children and families up to date, evidenced based practice. When not at work, Elizabeth likes to spend time reading, working out, traveling and spending time with her family, including her two wonderful daughters.

Years caring for patients

Outside of work, Paula is very involved in spending time with her three children. James, Adelaide, and Samuel are the center of Paula’s world. They love to be outdoors fishing, hunting, hiking, skiing, paddleboarding, snowboarding, and kayaking. She also spends a great deal of time taxiing them to their many school and sporting events and gets great pleasure out of watching them do what they love. Paula and her kids are deeply involved in 4H where Paula volunteers frequently and supports her children in their many projects.

Paula Vasek, FNP

is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and internationally board-certified Lactation Consultant. Paula’s career started in the Emergency Department (ED) in Tacoma, Washington at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital. While working in the ED, Paula began working on her Masters of Science in Nurse Education with hopes of teaching at the collegiate level. In addition to working on her nurse education degree, Paula undertook a second Masters program to obtain a degree as a Nurse Practitioner and completed this in 2005.  Paula began working at Laramie Physicians for Women and Children (LPWC) specializing in Pediatrics in 2005. She practiced at LPWC for 16 years and dedicated her entire career to the children and families in Laramie, Wyoming. Paula has always had a dream of starting and running her own practice and began to pursue fulfilling this dream in 2021. Paula and her colleague, Elizabeth Smith, opened the doors to Meadowlark Pediatrics on July 6th, 2021. Part of Elizabeth and Paula’s reasons to start Meadowlark Pediatrics is to bridge science and clinical practice in southeastern Wyoming offering children and families up to date, evidenced based practice. Paula provides preventative care, urgent care, and care of acute and chronic conditions. She has a deep passion for the Laramie community and the families she has been so honored to be part of.

Aimee Johnson, RN

was born and raised in Colorado.  She moved to Laramie in 2007 to start nursing school.  She graduated from the University of Wyoming with her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in 2009.  She initially worked in Labor and Delivery/Nursery in Rock Springs, WY and Laramie, WY for a little over a year and then dove into work in an urgent care setting for eight years.  She then found a passion for pediatrics and has been part of our team ever since.  She has a loving husband and daughter as well as four cats and two dogs at home.  When not at work she enjoys playing golf, reading, and fishing.

Annie Gallegos, RN

has been a nurse for almost 20 years, with most of that being in the pediatric field.  She was born and raised in Laramie, WY. When not working, Annie enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, hiking and spending time at the family cabin.

Kodi Davis, Administrative Assistant

Kodi is a “Wyoming born and raised girl.”  She has an awesome husband, who spends most of his summer fighting wildfires and one beautiful daughter who always keeps life fun and interesting. Kodi’s happy place is exploring the great outdoors with her family, sitting around the campfire, trying new restaurants, and starting DIY projects at their country home.  Their family loves to camp, fish, and hike any time they are able. Kodi is a dessert-first kind of person and sprinkles are a must, so it was only fitting that she has a degree in pastry arts and previously owned a bakery. After leaving the bakery, Kodi jumped into a new and exciting career in the medical field, and Kodi absolutely adores working in pediatrics. Kodi has loved getting to know our patients, their families, and watching the children and adorable newborns grow!
